God had mercy on me in 1996 after hearing the gospel. I was a lost religious preacher, working my way up the ladder, when I heard God’s sovereign grace with power. Christ was exalted in the salvation of sinners as Preeminent, the Son of God, and sent into the world to successfully redeem God’s elect by the sacrifice of Himself. God raised Him, and He is freely given to all who believe: we are God’s elect - whoever calls upon His name, even everyone that seeks the Lord!
I rejoiced in this power but wavered, spending 18 years in relative bondage, having lost my First Love. God restored me. Like John Mark before, He picked me up from falling, and has made me faithful, giving me power to walk uprightly according to His word, boldness, and assurance in Christ - that He, by the Holy Spirit, is God’s gift, guaranteeing success over sin - not by human strength, but by God given power, manifested in the gospel’s glory revealed and believed.
Daily, I write gospel articles to exhort us in Christ and build us up in our inheritance, so that God’s elect might be saved, sinners comforted, local churches established, and pastors can be enlightened by Spirit empowered, Christ exalting, and textually accurate preaching. It is the warfare and delight of my soul to maintain communion with Christ - our Source of Power and Joy. He is Everything. Colossians 1:18, “That in all things He might have the preeminence.”
Pastor Larry Austin
To put it short I am simply trying to follow the call of God on my life to bear witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as an Urban Missionary. It is my desire to be faithful to Jesus Christ in preaching and teaching the gospel. And more specifically proclaiming it to my Brothers and Sisters in hoods and communities across the globe, who live in this darkened world in a way that they can truly hear. Because far too often, the Church has "talked about them" instead of "talking to them."
So I endeavor to use my music ministry and passion for preaching the gospel as a platform to exalt the king and benefit the hearts of those to whom hip-hop music and culture is already ingrained in their everyday experience. So instead of inviting them to church...we seek to bring the church to them in a contextually relevant way.
I am also the Director of the Inside/Out Project®, which works within the juvenile justice system to provide chaplaincy and mentoring services to youth and young adults while they are incarcerated and follow-up pastoral support services upon their release.
